记者从北京大学人口研究所获悉，从5月30日到6月2日，该所将连续举办三场“马寅初系列学术报告”。

三场学术报告分别为：北卡罗来那大学的RICHARD E. BILSBORROW教授主讲的“亚马逊热带雨林正在消失吗？厄瓜多尔森林采伐的人口统计学及其他原因”，“移民将会去什么地方？方法论，解决办法以及未来方向”，以及Research Triangle Institute的高级研究员Helen P. Koo博士主讲的“社会人口研究中的定性和定量方法”。

北京大学人口研究所是一个以研究工作为主，同时承担教学任务的科研与教学机构，是国内最先开展人口学研究与教学的高校研究机构之一，也是首批获得联合国人口基金资助的重点人口机构之一。
