由北京大学国际合作部主办的 "英文学术论文写作与发表系列讲座"，旨在鼓励广大科教人员和研究生用英语发表学术论文，提高英文论文写作能力。系列讲座将邀请国外大学和科研机构的资深教授为北大师生开设讲座，讲授有关英文论文写作、发表的相关知识和技巧。

主讲人：Dr.Iain Bruce

After gaining a bachelor's degree from Aberdeen University and adoctorate from the University of Calgary, Dr. Bruce pursued a career in neuroscience research at the Universities of Toronto and Iowa. In 1987, he moved to the University of Hong Kong, where he was a member of the Faculty of Medicine until last year, when he joined Zhejiang University School of Medicine.

During the past decade, Dr. Bruce has worked extensively with postgraduate students and researchers in China, especially in helping to train young investigators how to write for publication. As a part-time member of the Institute of Molecular Medicine at PKU, he maintains e-mail communication with students and colleagues and visits Beijing several times each year to conduct face-to-face writing
workshops.

讲座题要：

Part I will outline the formula for writing a scientific paper and offer practical, helpful hints on how to organize and write a first draft while avoiding too much suffering.

    Part II will touch on the dangers to which young investigators are vulnerable,especially ethical issues and plagiarism; then, in an interactive class exercise, the principles considered in Part I will be applied in an attempt to construct the outline of an original paper.
